About Me
Hi, I’m Shannon! Thank you for checking out my page and learning more about me. I’d love to talk with you about how health coaching can help you live a calmer, happier, more mindful life!
Bread. Pasta. Cheese. Fruit. Potatoes. Chicken Fingers. Hot Dogs. Cinnamon Toast Crunch.
And that’s about all I ate for most of my life. I grew up a picky eater, and while my parents hoped I’d “grow out of it,” I continued in my picky eating ways all through college and into adulthood. I rarely exercised, and when I did I felt miserable. I slept late, ate a lot of processed food, and watched a lot of TV.
I want to be clear though - none of that was “bad.” I tell you my habits because I want you to know that wherever you are coming from, I don’t judge you. There is no absolute moral value to our choices. But personally, I felt like my lifestyle was out of alignment. I didn’t feel comfortable in my skin, I didn’t feel like I had any energy to do things I loved, and I didn’t feel like I was living up to my own personal values.
By the time I was an adult, I was experiencing intense, sometimes debilitating periods of depression and anxiety, and I knew something had to change. I felt like I was “doing everything right,” but I was still unhappy. So I did my research and very slowly, with one new habit at a time, built a routine and a lifestyle that made me feel in sync with myself. I chose joy.
If any of that sounds familiar to you, I just want you to know that change is possible. It takes time, small steps, and a lot of kindness, but you have the power to live in a way that makes you feel powerful, strong, and centered.
I know, I know. I can already hear your objections.
“I’ll never be a morning person”
“I’ll never enjoy salads”
“I’ll never crave a workout”
“I’ll never meditate every day”
I told myself all of those things, over and over again. I tried counting calories, intermittent fasting, dieting, and following intense and exhausting exercise plans. Not surprisingly, none of it stuck. My coaching does not focus on a specific prescription, because no one diet or movement pattern works for everyone. Move Eat Breathe is about finding what works for you, so you can do more of what makes you happy.
“Don’t live in a way that makes you feel dead.”
